Presentation Description

With loan origination volume likely to reach a record-breaking $3.9 trillion in 2020, there’s no denying it’s been a banner year for the lending industry. But as refinances wind down in 2021, where will the market trend? And how will significant factors like shifting presidential power and a lingering pandemic come into play?

Like other elements of the economy, the mortgage industry has been thrown into an unprecedented arena—making it the perfect time to turn to Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) Chief Economist Mike Fratantoni for expert predictions on 2021 and beyond. Join Mike Fratantoni and CMLA Forums as we take a look at projections for the year ahead.

2020 Double the Donation
Happy New Year! As 2021 begins, our hearts are full of hope and gratitude. Because of you, we far surpassed our original goal — raising $100,323 — for our end-of-year fundraiser 'Double the Donation'. We are truly humbled by this level of support.

100% of every dollar donated will be given to Colorado Homeownership Coalition families who need our support to overcome hardships and sustain homeownership. Your overwhelming generosity will make an impact throughout 2021.

These donations came from the support of 32 local companies and 200+ individuals. This community effort is proof that we can do more when working together. Every donation, no matter the amount, made an impact, and we're grateful for you all. Stay tuned, as we look forward to recognizing many of these generous donors as we kick-off 2021.

CMLA is YOUR Legislative Advocate in the Mortgage Industry

January 5th - FHFA Issues Proposed Rulemaking Notice on GSE Resolution Plans
The Federal Housing Finance Agency on Dec. 23 issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking that would require Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to develop credible resolution plans, also known as living wills. These resolution plans would facilitate a rapid and orderly resolution should FHFA have to be appointed their receiver under the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008.

January 5th - Slight Revisions to MBA Mortgage Finance, Economic Forecasts
Following one of the most volatile years in memory, the Mortgage Bankers Association’s latest Mortgage Finance and Economic Forecasts seem decidedly normal.
