CMLA First Quarter Recap - 2014/2015

Published: December 10, 2014

Many of you may or may not know CMLA’s year begins on August 1st, kicked off by our annual Convention, and ends July 31st. For those of you who attended our annual convention this past August, you know we certainly kicked off the 2014/2015 year in a memorable way! On behalf of the entire CMLA staff, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone for their patience, understanding and willingness to roll with what came our way. With the exception of the “unfortunate incident,” the Convention was a tremendous success and set the stage for the upcoming year.

Before we knew it, September was upon us beginning with a sold out luncheon, with Julie Piepho, CMB, AMP, CML, President of National Operations at Cornerstone Home Lending and MBA’s Colorado Ambassador, as our featured speaker. Julie expertly discussed the ins and outs of the upcoming Integrated Disclosures Rule and its impact on how everyone conducts their business. I’m sure everyone came away better informed and ready to begin tackling the challenges this new rule promises to bring. Thank you Julie!

We rounded out September with our Southern Chapter’s Annual Golf Tournament and a great turnout! Despite freezing temperatures, our golfers stuck it out and had a great time. Thanks to everyone for hanging in there until the end.

October’s focus was multifaceted. Our first order of business was a challenge handed down by the MBA and the Mortgage Action Alliance. The Mortgage Action Alliance (MAA) is a non-partisan, free, nationwide grassroots lobbying network of real estate finance industry professionals whose motto is “The LARGER the group, the LOUDER the voice.” They challenged all of the State MBA’s to encourage their membership to join. I am very proud to announce that Colorado won that challenge with 627 enrollees up from 254 in three short weeks! A huge thank you to all who signed up and your dedication to the industry. While I am thrilled we were first in the nation on this challenge, 627 is not enough! The companies CMLA represents make up a total of approximately 8000 employees. To make the biggest impact, more people must participate. It takes less than 5 minutes to join, is free and really will make a big impact. Remember, “The LARGER the group, the LOUDER the voice!!"

While all of this was going on, we launched our 2015 Lenders Expo promotion and geared up for the next quarter’s events, the results of which will I report on in our next newsletter. We wrapped up the first quarter with a successful turnout for our Northern Chapter’s CE class instructed by Charity Vermeer-Cornelison at the Northern Colorado College of Real Estate, with requests for more!

As you can see, first quarter of the 2014/2015 year was a great success and we have so much in store for the remainder of the year. Thank you for your continued support of CMLA and what we are trying to accomplish on behalf of our industry.
