Spaulding rose to become the youngest President & CEO of the world-renowned leadership organization, Up with People. In 2000, Tommy founded Leader’s Challenge, which grew to become the largest high school civic and leadership program in the state of Colorado. He is the Founder & President of the Global Youth Leadership Academy as well as the National Leadership Academy, a leading national non-profit high school leadership development organization.

Previously, Spaulding was the Business Partner Sales Manager at IBM/Lotus Development and a member of the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) program. He received a BA in Political Science from East Carolina University (1992); an MBA from Bond University in Australia (1998), where he was a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar; and an MA in Non-Profit Management from Regis University (2005).

In 2006, Spaulding was awarded the Outstanding Alumni Award by East Carolina University (ECU) and in 2007, Spaulding received an Honorary PhD in Humanities from the Art Institute of Colorado. In September, 2012 Spaulding was named by Meetings & Conventions Magazine as one of the 100 MOST FAVORITE SPEAKERS in the nation.

Tommy now resides in the Denver Metro Area with his wife and children.

Rodrigo LopezRodrigo López, CMB, Chairman-Elect of the MBA

Rodrigo López, Chairman-Elect of the Mortgage Bankers Association, is the Executive Chairman of NorthMarq Capital Finance, L.L.C., a mortgage banking company dedicated to providing capital solutions for the multifamily industry.

Rodrigo has been actively involved with MBA for almost three decades. He is a former Chairman of MBA’s Commercial/Multifamily Board of Governors. He has served on the Association’s Board of Directors since 2009, along with a previous stint on the board in 2003 and 2004. Rodrigo was the recipient of MBA’s Distinguished Member Award in 2010, MBA’s Burton C. Wood Legislative Service Award in 2002, and MBA’s Master Faculty Award in 2000. He also received MBA’s Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB) designation.

Congressman Scott Tipton was raised in Cortez, Colorado. After over 30 years of running his small business, Scott was elected as a Republican to the Colorado House of Representatives for the 58th District in November of 2008 and to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2010. He is serving in his third term.

Scott has used his experience as a small businessman to inform his work in Congress. He has fought to protect farmers and ranchers from regulatory overreach, as well as push for expanded trade opportunities for Colorado products. He also continues to work to advance opportunities to increase access to capital for small businesses from community banks, and is working alongside his colleagues to repeal some of the unintended consequences of the massive Dodd-Frank legislation that have hampered local economic growth.

In the 114th Congress, Scott continues to represent the many interests of one of the most diverse and geographically vast districts in the nation. He serves on the House Committee on Financial Services, and is a Vice Chair of the Congressional Western Caucus.

Scott is a co-founder of the Congressional Small Business Caucus, a bipartisan caucus committed to open dialogue on the issues that most impact small businesses. Members of the Congressional Small Business Caucus are dedicated to advancing efforts to foster the economic certainty needed for small businesses and entrepreneurs to succeed and create jobs.

Elliot Eisenberg, Ph.D. is a nationally acclaimed economist and public speaker specializing in making the arcana and minutiae of economics fun, relevant and educational. Dr. Eisenberg earned a B.A. in economics with first class honors from McGill University in Montreal, as well as a Master and Ph.D. in public administration from Syracuse University. He will then examine how labor markets and wages will perform and what the path of inflation is likely to be, how the Federal Reserve is likely to respond, and how it will impact the yield curve.Time will also be devoted to examining household balance sheets, default rates of various asset classes and energy markets. Dr. Eisenberg will discuss auto sales, as well as consumer and small business sentiment, and will examine the condition of the housing market including starts, new and existing sales, prices, demographics, credit conditions and more generally, what factors are helping and what factors are hindering the housing market recovery. He will then compare Arizona to the other states and will lastly look at the relative condition of the larger MSAs in Arizona and how they compare in terms of unemployment, employment growth, personal income, housing starts, housing prices and more.

Mike is a Colorado native and a third-generation mortgage banker. He is a graduate of Colorado State University and has a Master's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Northern Colorado. He is also a graduate of the School Mortgage Banking.

Mike received his Certified Mortgage Banker designation in 1988 and served as chair of the Society of Certified Mortgage Bankers from 1999 to 2002. In 2002 he received the Mortgage Bankers Association's Distinguished Service Award and in 2013, the MBA named its lifetime education achievement award for him.

Mike has served on the Colorado Land-Use Commission, Governor Romer's Housing Policy Committee, Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry's Blue Ribbon Task Force is a former chair Colorado State Housing Board and the Board of Rocky Mountain Communities.
