Colorado Legislative Update

Cary Whitaker is currently the Director of Regulatory Affairs at Cornerstone Home Lending, Inc. He has been in this role since July of 2012. His responsibilities include the oversight and management of all company examinations, audits, investigations, complaints, licensing, policies, disclosures, regulatory research, compliance testing and legislative tracking.
Prior to joining Cornerstone Home Lending, Inc., Cary was the Deputy Director for the Colorado Division of Real Estate. In 2006, he implemented Colorado’s first mortgage regulatory program and enforced it for six (6) years thereafter. Cary is responsible for drafting many of the laws and regulations that govern the mortgage industry in Colorado today.
Before working at the State of Colorado, Cary began his career in the mortgage industry by working in the wholesale lending arena as an area manager for companies such as GreenPoint Mortgage and Paul Financial.
Cary Whitaker is active in his community and the mortgage industry. As a certified mediator, he performs volunteer mediations for Jefferson County, CO, is currently the Co-Chair of the Colorado Mortgage Lender Association’s Legislative and Regulatory Affairs, currently sits on the Board of Governors for the CMLA and is the past Chair of MBa’s State and Local Affairs committees.
