Rick Accomazzo

Rick Accomazzo is a shareholder and director of Bloom Murr Accomazzo & Siler, PC, a Denver, Colorado law firm. His practice emphasizes mortgage banking, commercial litigation, real estate finance, and real estate.

Rick has more than 32 years experience representing mortgage lenders, both as in-house and outside counsel. He has extensive litigation experience in the mortgage banking field, including class action defense, repurchase disputes, lender liability defense, pursuit of mortgage fraud perpetrators, title insurance disputes, and employment disputes. He regularly advises mortgage bankers and mortgage brokers in transactions such as loan documentation, correspondent agreements, sales of loans and loan servicing, and warehouse lending. He also renders advice on mortgage banking compliance matters, including compliance with CFPB regulations, the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Truth in Lending Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, and fair lending. He has been involved in drafting Colorado legislation relating to mortgage lending and was an original member of the Colorado Mortgage Broker Rule Making Task Force. Rick has been selected as an arbitrator in major arbitrations involving mortgage banking, has been qualified as an expert witness in mortgage lending litigation, and frequently gives speeches to mortgage industry groups.

Rick lives in Boulder and has three grown children, and one two-month old granddaughter. He enjoys rock climbing and backcountry snowboarding.

Cary Whitaker

Cary Whitaker

Director of Regulatory Affairs,
Cornerstone Home Lending, Inc.

A native of Prairie Village, Kansas, Cary Whitaker is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder and Denver, where he studied political science and conflict management.

He started his career in the mortgage industry working for wholesale lenders such as GreenPoint Mortgage and Paul Financial.

In 2006, he was hired at the Division of Real Estate to implement Colorado’s first mortgage broker regulatory program. In doing so, he drafted and implemented many laws and rules that govern the mortgage industry in Colorado today.

In 2012, Cary left the state to join Cornerstone Home Lending, Inc.’s compliance department where one of his responsibilities is to track and monitor regulatory updates at both the state and federal levels of government.

Title Perspective

Diane Evans, NTP

American Land Title Association

Diane Evans has served the title insurance industry for more than three decades. She joined Denver, Colorado-based Land Title Guarantee Company in 1981 and currently serves as vice president.

A member of the American Land Title Association’s (ALTA) Board of Governors, Diane serves as president. She also is a member of ALTA’s Government Affairs Committee, State Regulatory Advisory Committee, NAIC Committee and Agents Executive Section. Additionally, she has served as chair of ALTA’s Abstracters and Title Insurance Agents Section Executive Committee.

Diane has been active in the title industry in Colorado as well. She served as president of the Land Title Association of Colorado in 2001, served on its Board of Directors from 1992-2002 and continues to serve on its legislative committee. She has served on the Colorado Secretary of State E-Recording Panel, a member of the Producers Council of the Colorado Division of Insurance and the Colorado Division of Insurance Title Advisory Panel. She has served as chair of the State Board of Land Commissioners and on the Colorado State University System’s Board of Governors.

Active in her home town of Castle Rock, Diane has served on various steering committees. She was named the 2002 Business Person of the Year by the Castle Rock Chamber of Commerce, serving twice as its past president. She continues to serve on the Castle Rock Economic Development Council, an organization that she helped found, and on the Town Manager’s Advisory Council.

She and her husband, Roger, live near Kiowa, Colo. They have three children and two granddaughters.
