Am I exempt from part of the education requirement?

Licensed mortgage brokers are required to complete a 40-hour Mortgage Broker Licensing Education Course and complete a 100-question test prior to January 1, 2009. Persons who have obtained their CML might qualify for an exemption to a portion of those requirements.

  • If you have BOTH - a Certified Mortgage Lender designation AND are a CMLA member - you qualify for the 20.5 hour exemption status.

Education Providers

CMLA has chosen both Mortgage Training Institute and National Lender Services as our preferred education providers.
  • If you DID qualify for exemption status in the steps above, you may sign up for the 19.5 hour class.
  • If you DID NOT qualify for exemption status in the steps above, or you wish to take all 40 hours of training, you must sign up for the 40 hour class.
  • BOTH class types are offered ONLINE and IN PERSON.
Mortgage Training insitute offers classes both online and in person with several locations and dates throughout Colorado. National Lender Services offers the same, high quality classes in a Live Classroom or online setting.
